Record-Breaking Summit DD Food Drive

Summit DD staff strive to go above and beyond to support our community. And this summer’s staff food drive was no exception. Together we collected a whopping 4,840 lbs of food, shattering last winter’s drive at only 2,500 lbs. “The Akron-Canton Food Bank is a valuable resource used by many people we support. Summit DD Celebrates First Annual Inclusion Day with the Akron RubberDucks

More than 900 staff, individuals, families and community members expected

(Tallmadge, Ohio) – On Sunday, August 30, approximately 900 people will celebrate Inclusion Day with the Summit County Developmental Disabilities Board, or Summit DD, as the Akron RubberDucks play the Richmond Flying Squirrels at Canal Park, 300 South Main Street, Akron.  The festivities begin at 1:05 with a ballpark lunch and then a chance to run the bases after the game. Celebrating Inclusion: Photo Contest

Whether you have a disability or not, we all want to feel like we’re contributing. In the classroom, social clubs or the workplace, communities are at their best when the contributions of everyone are included.

That’s why we want to celebrate inclusion in our wonderful community through a number a fun-filled events including Inclusion Day with the Akron RubberDucks and now our Facebook photo contest: “How do you celebrate Inclusion?”

Do you and your friends like to spend the day shopping and then catch a movie together? Is your little one’s play date the perfect place for friends of all abilities? Are you and your co-workers the perfect complement to one another on the job? Take a photo and show us!
