Summit DD Services

Services are offered to people with disabilities in Summit County from the time an infant is diagnosed with a developmental disability, or before age 22 if an incident should occur that results in a disability. To verify eligibility, an application must be submitted and verified through the Board's Intake Department. Once a person is eligible for services, the following services may be available to them:
Community Services
Community Services includes Homemaker/Personal Care (HPC) services which are tasks directed at increasing the independence of the person served within his/her home or community. These tasks include assisting the individual with activities of daily living, personal hygiene, dressing, feeding, transfer and ambulatory needs, skill development, and homemaking tasks such as cooking, cleaning, laundry, and shopping.
 
Children's Services
The preschool program is for children ages three through five years. The emphasis is placed on educational and developmental skills by providing various therapies and psychological services. These services are provided in an integrated setting through the CALICO Center at the Weaver Learning Complex, and at the YWCA. CALICO Center, an integrated day care program, is also able to provide services to those children who are considered medically fragile and are in need of special care not offered in other community daycare centers. Calico Center
What is Calico?

Calico is an inclusive, developmental child care center that provides care and support to toddlers and preschoolers with and without special needs.  Our child care center is unique because nurses are always on staff to provide support to those children who may be medically fragile and whose technological and/or medical care might exclude them from other child care centers and opportunities.

 
Early Intervention
Early intervention services are provided in a variety of community settings according to a family's needs and wishes, and can include homes, libraries, recreation centers and daycare centers. CSBMR/DD Speech/Language Therapists provide intervention in small groups at several community sites, while Early Intervention Specialists facilitate playgroups, storytime and Mommy & Me activities at many of those same sites.
 
Adult Services
Adult services includes all Day Array programs such as center-based habilitation, supported employment, community employment and other programs that allow eligible individuals to particiate in a daily program which helps them acheive their individual potential.
 
Transportation Options
Transportation is provided by the Board to eligible individuals attending eight community service centers and in a variety of job sites around Summit County.
