DD Board Holds Open Houses for Developmental Disabilities Awareness

In celebration Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month, the County of Summit Developmental Disabilities Board, or Summit DD, invites the public to attend one of several open houses at its community-based adult centers.  The Dream Out Loud Studio artists will host an open house at the Ellet center, 2420 Wedgewood Drive, in Akron, on Thursday, March 21st from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m., showcasing artwork created by artists with developmental disabilities.  On Friday, March 22nd the Cuyahoga Falls center, located at 2355 Second Street in Cuyahoga Falls, will host an open house from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.  Tallmadge center will wrap up the month with its open house on Wednesday, March 27th from 2:00 – 6:00 p.m., at its facility located at 630 North Avenue in Tallmadge.      Read More ›

Summit DD and Stow Mayor Honored for Raising Awareness

On March 11, 2013 the County of Summit Developmental Disabilities Board (Summit DD) and Stow Mayor, Sara Drew received awards for promoting positive perceptions and understanding of people with developmental disabilities, from Ohio Public Images (OPI) at an awards luncheon held in Dublin, OH.  The awards were presented as part of the celebration of DD Awareness Month.
