Autism 5K & Walk/Run: Lace It/Race It/Face It at Lock 3 in Akron
Starts at 9 am
This is a fun, healthy, and effective way to show your support for all those impacted by autism in our community and to raise funds for the Autism Society of Greater Akron (ASGA). Your generosity helps continue the organization’s vision that all affected by autism have ready access to services and supports needed to be safe, educated, healthy, productive and able to pursue happy and fulfilling lives.

Free Touch-A-Truck at Tallmadge Recreation Center
10 am – 12 pm
Children of all ages can touch, climb on and explore vehicles of all shapes and sizes in the parking lot of the Recreation Center. In addition to Tallmadge City vehicles, you’ll be able to take a look at mail trucks, army vehicles and other cool surprises.  Held at 46 N. Munroe Rd., Tallmadge, OH 44278

2nd Annual Summit DD Inclusion Day with the Akron RubberDucks
First pitch at 2:05 pm
Let’s show the strength of our great community by celebrating the abilities of every citizen! Thanks to donated funds, we’re taking over Canal Park for the second annual Summit DD Inclusion Day. Invite your family, friends and even neighbors to this community-wide event. Cost: $4 per ticket, plus you get $2 worth of Duck Bills to spend in the stadium if you order before May 19.

58th Annual Father’s Day Car Show at Stan Hywet
9 am – 4:30 pm
Celebrate Father’s Day at one of the oldest car shows in America. On display are 400 classic, antique and collector cars manufactured from 1925-1990. Cost: $11 per adult ($14 non-member), $5 per youth age 6-17 ($6 non-member)

Day Out with Dad at the Pro Football Hall of Fame
9 am – 12 pm
Dads, spend a day bonding with your kids at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium with football skills and drills. Share your experience with Gold Jacket Anthony Muñoz and Jim Kelly. Enjoy a tour of the Hall of Fame, lunch vouchers from Chick-fil-A and free parking. Cost: $35 for Dad and up to 4 kids.

Opens 11 am each day, 9:45 pm fireworks finale on July 4. Free admission all four days.

Fairlawn Independence Day Parade
4:30 pm
The parade will step off from St. Hilary’s parking lot, head west on W. Market Street and conclude in the 3320 W. Market Street parking lot (directly across from Summit Mall).

July 4, 2016
Stow Fourth of July Parade
10 am
The parade steps off at 10:00am from Stow-Kent Shopping Center and travels down Kent Road past Holy Family Church, and ends at Park Drive.

July 11 – 15, 2016
5th Annual Autism Society of Greater Akron iCan Bike Camp
8:30am, 10:05 am, 11:40am, 2:00pm and 3:35pm
Held at the Copley High School Auxiliary Gym located at 3807 Ridgewood Road Copley. This 5-day camp teaches individuals of all different abilities how to ride a two-wheel bicycle without training wheels. Camp accepts 40 riders on a first-come, first-served basis. Riders attend the same 75 minute session each day for 5 consecutive days.

August 13-14, 2016
National Hamburger Festival at Lock 3
Admission is $5 per day. Children 8 and under are free! Tickets are available for purchase at the gate. Each year, the festival raises money for Akron Children’s Hospital. All food tickets must be purchased at the festival (pre-sale tickets are not available). Food tickets are $1 each and are used to purchase all food items. The festival guide, which is available at the festival entrance, lists all of the food prices.

16th Annual Northeast Ohio Buddy Walk
This year, the Buddy Walk will be at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo. Buddy Walk registration entitles you to zoo and rain forest admission all day. We know you will enjoy this 1-mile wheel-friendly walk in celebration of individuals with Down syndrome.

Ongoing Summer Events:

Downtown Akron Artwalk
First Saturday of every month from June 4 – December 3, 2016
5 – 10 pm
The Artwalk features nearly two dozen destinations for art, shopping, dining and entertainment with offerings that fit every budget. Hand-blown glass, pottery, ceramic, paintings, textiles, jewelry and eclectic house wares all dot the footprint of this spectacular monthly event.

Free Indoor Family Movie Night at Akron Public Library
Tuesdays at 2 pm, June 7 – August 23, 2016
Chill in the main library auditorium and enjoy classic family movies like Toy Story, Jungle Book, Frozen, Despicable Me and more!

Free Outdoor Flicks on the Falls at Falls River Square
Thursdays after dusk, June 2 – August 11, 2016
Flicks on the Falls offers outdoor film entertainment for the whole family to enjoy! Strollers are welcome and you may bring your own chairs, however, stadium style seating is available. Although you love them, please leave your pets at home.

Free Outdoor Summer Concerts in Summit County
June 13 – August 12, 7 – 9 pm
The concert series in the parks has become an Akron tradition. Bring your chair, have a picnic dinner, catch up with your neighbors and enjoy the weekly free concerts. All of the bands are family friendly and refreshments are offered at each site.
