New growth in Hattie’s Garden

A strong community works, lives and learns together. Hattie’s Garden, a sustainable agriculture program of Hattie Larlham, is continuing to bolster their community by planting a second location at the Old Trail School in Bath, Ohio. It will create new jobs for people with developmental disabilities, provide organic produce to the public and teach Old Trail School students the health and entrepreneurial benefits of sustainable gardening. What 47% of Residents Don’t Know… yet.

Almost half of the residents of Summit County do NOT believe that children with special needs should be included in classrooms with their typically developing peers.  Although sentiment has improved over the past five years, this is a shocking and sobering statistic.  There is a great deal of work to be done in educating others about developmental disabilities and the importance of inclusion.  Summit DD’s CPI program was designed to do just that. Service Coordinators are the Heart of our Agency

Service and support administrators, or SSAs, serve as the single point of accountability for more than 4,000 individuals served by the County of Summit Developmental Disabilities Board.  They provide information and referrals for recommended services.  They answer questions about services, supports and coordination.  They also assist individuals in accessing providers, programs and services.
