Summit DD funds and coordinates day services for more than 1,800 adults, including community-based employment and center based services. More than 1,500 of those adults in Summit County receive their day service in a center-based setting. National trends indicate that the most integrated environment is integrated community employment where individuals make at least minimum wage and work along side those without disabilities, Ohio has followed suit with the Governor’s proclamation declaring Ohio and Employment First state in 2012. The County of Summit Developmental Disabilities Board (Summit DD) will be unveiling three, new raised garden beds for its garden club. The unveiling will be held on Friday, May 31, 2013, at 10:30 a.m., at its Ellet Center, 2420 Wedgewood Drive in Akron. The garden beds were donated and built by Devon Pangburn as part of his Eagle Scout Service Project.
In February, Superintendent Tom Armstrong, announced his plans to retire later this year and the Board began planning its search for his successor.
