Employee of Summit DD Dies of Natural Causes While at Work
(Akron, OH) – The County of Summit Board of Developmental Disabilities is releasing to the media and public that one of its employees became un-responsive while on the job in a Summit DD classroom in Bath, Ohio this morning. This person was later pronounced deceased at the Akron General Medical Center. The cause of death is believed to be natural causes. The employee, whose name is not being officially released pending notification of his family, was working as a Registered II Substitute in the agency’s adult services program and has been employed as a substitute for the last 7 months.

However, the agency will be reviewing all the details surrounding the death to ensure consistently high standards for the health and safety of all program participant and employees. Counselors to help deal with grief related to the incident are being made available for both those who are served by the agency and its employees.
