The Board respects and supports employees who serve our country in the military. In Mr. McGee’s case, we have followed the terms of his employment contract and all applicable state and federal laws. A key component of Summit DD’s mission is to break down discriminatory barriers to ensure that individuals with disabilities are not discriminated against and have equal access to their communities and opportunities for employment. We absolutely do not tolerate acts of unlawful harassment or discrimination on the basis of race, color, national origin, gender, age, disability, sexual orientation, religion, ancestry, veteran status, genetic or military status.

It is unfortunate that Mr. McGee has chosen to take legal action rather than working with the Board to address his concerns. There were mitigating personnel issues that led to decisions about the terms of Mr. McGee’s employment agreement. While we cannot comment on those issues while they are under litigation, we are certain that those personnel decisions have nothing to do with Mr. McGee’s military service. The Board has, and will continue, to cooperate with the legal process. It is the Board’s sincere belief that through that process it will become evident that there has been no discrimination as has been alleged.
