Community Travel Services
Community travel services are one of several transportation options. This department is the link to connecting individuals to Metro Regional Transit Authority (Metro RTA), the agency that provides public transportation services to all citizens of Summit County.
The department consists of trained and experienced travel specialists who work one-on-one
with individuals found eligible for board services.
The first step in accessing services is to request an evaluation. This community-based assessment is done to determine an individual’s ability to safely and independently access his/her community via Metro regular line services, SCAT or ADA services. This evaluation period may also include a pedestrian assessment to determine safety while crossing streets, interpreting traffic patterns and signals, and analyzing common tasks that individuals may encounter while traveling throughout Summit County.
Once someone is deemed to be safe to use public transportation, one-on-one instruction in all transit related skills including Metro line, circulators, SCAT, and ADA services, is provided to specifically get someone where they need to go, when they need to get there. The department is also available to provide crisis intervention/troubleshooting and retraining, when necessary.
