Scott’s Story: 30 Years of Dedication at Acme

In celebration of National Disability Employment Awareness Month, join us in congratulating Scott for nearly 30 years of service at Acme Fresh Market! “I really like it here and this February will be 30 years,” shared Scott. His dedication is truly unheard of in this day and age. According to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, the average employee tenure in 2018 was only four years. Scott has beat that statistic nearly tenfold.

“He really is an amazing guy! He is so friendly and very motivated at what he does. I’m so happy to see him succeed in the workplace and his personal life,” commented Julie Cain Foster, Scott’s Summit DD Service and Support Administrator. Julie helps to coordinate all aspects of Scott’s services, including job coaching, transportation, in-home assistance, and more. “Julie is as sweet as pie,” Scott said with a smile.

As Scott gets closer to his retirement years, he hopes to travel with his two brothers and spend more time exploring his photography hobby. His phone is full of photos he has taken over the years—and recently he invested in an old film camera from a thrift store to expand his skills.

So as you celebrate National Disability Employment Awareness Month, keep Scott’s dedication in mind. Use it for motivation in your own career, plus take the time to explore ways you can be an ambassador for a more inclusive workplace. Thank you for celebrating with Summit DD this October!
