What is a Special Needs Trust?

A Special Needs Trust (SNT) is a trust established as a source for funds received for the benefit of an individual who receives government benefits based on need. SNTs, also referred to a Supplemental Needs Trusts, are intended to supplement needs-based government benefits, such as Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and Medicaid, without jeopardizing the continued receipt of those benefits.  Read More ›

Get Involved on Inclusion Day

Inclusion means that every person, of every ability, should have the opportunity to fully engage, contribute and participate in their community. How does this happen? This happens when the whole community gets involved! That’s why for the second year we’re calling on classrooms, workplaces and the community as a whole to celebrate Inclusion Day as a part DD Awareness Month on March 16th. That means wearing orange on March 16th and using the hashtag #includeME to spread inclusion pride throughout the community.

Local Centers Welcome Senior Citizens of All Abilities

When you walk into Ohio Living, a senior day center located in West Akron, you can expect to see lots of activity.
