Summit DD Gives Back to the Community
(Tallmadge, Ohio) – On June 6th the Summit County Developmental Disabilities Board, or Summit DD, participated in their inaugural Community Give Back Day. More than 120 Summit DD staff members volunteered at several local organizations including, the Boys & Girls Club, Hattie’s Gardens, One of A Kind Pet Rescue, and the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank. Update on Precautionary Security Measures
The health and safety of our employees, those we support and the community is always our primary concern. Earlier this week one of our employees received a threatening voicemail. The Summit County Sheriff’s Office and local police jurisdictions took immediate action to make an arrest and help secure our buildings. While we believe there is not an imminent threat, we have taken precautionary actions to further secure our buildings. We will continue to practice extra vigilance during this time and will continue to work with local police jurisdictions to ensure that Summit DD is a safe place for people of all abilities.
Abilities Celebrated at Summit DD Awards Breakfast
Nearly 300 disability advocates, elected officials, government organizations, disability service providers and leaders in the community gathered at Quaker Station in Akron on Tuesday for the Summit County Developmental Disabilities Board, or Summit DD, inaugural Appreciation Breakfast and Awards Celebration. The event came at the conclusion of Developmental Disability Awareness Month and recognized community leaders and advocates for building communities that recognize the abilities of all citizens.
