Each March, Summit DD celebrates National Developmental Disabilities Awareness (DD Awareness) Month, along with other state and national disability organizations.
DD Awareness Month is a time when Summit DD brings even more awareness to the talents that each person has to offer within their community. It’s a time to showcase stories of inclusion and advocacy such as Brad’s story or success stories like Joyce’s to demonstrate the impact that people of every ability can have on those around them.
Events, like Advocacy Day, Inclusion Day and the Appreciation Breakfast are designed to bring people of all abilities together. And this year we’ve added a few new ways to celebrate. Join us at the Akron Children’s Museum for a Play for All or grab your friends, family and your proton pack and head over to Akron’s Linda Theater for Movie Night. You and your friends will have the opportunity to meet and take a photo with a real Ghostbuster!
We have a lot to celebrate, because we believe it’s important to empower all abilities! We also invite you to check out and share the stories, videos and events featured all month long.
Be sure to download our 2017 DD Awareness Flier and share it with your friends and co-workers. Together let’s celebrate all abilities this March (and all year long)!
