Services for Children

Has your child been diagnosed with Autism, Downs Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, or another disability?  Summit DD is here to help. We offer an array of services for eligible children with special needs and their families.  From early intervention services for babies and child care for all ages, to inclusive community programs and school-age supports, we’ve designed services to fit your family’s needs and daily routines, right in your community.

Services

Early Intervention, Birth to Age Six

Services are offered to children with special needs from birth to age six and are tailored to the individual needs of each family. These services are offered at no cost to you and are provided year-round. We work with you to build supports that are flexible and accessible by listening to your concerns, your priorities and your family routines. Parents share the joy their son has brought them…

The first half of the Callahan’s pregnancy was uneventful. The soon-to-be parents had chosen not to find out the sex of the baby, much to the chagrin of their less patient friends and family.  But when a routine doctor visit turned up concerns, the couple’s first pregnancy became anything but mundane.  Additional tests were ordered and revealed much more than the sex of their baby boy.  The tests seemed to lead to more questions than answers.  Specialists were consulted from all over the country, but none could interpret what they were seeing.  Doctors prepared Larry and Christine for the worst, that their baby may not survive. “Miracle Men” have made the world a better place…

Parents Meghan and Matthew Wilkinson approached first-time parenthood like most parents, with mix of excitement, worry, fear, and love.  Casey and Connor, identical twins, were born at 36 weeks into Meghan’s pregnancy and soon after they were born, were taken to the special care nursery.  They had not yet held or kissed their new babies when their doctor told them in a sweet, soft voice she had suspected that Casey and Connor both had Down syndrome, a one in a million chance that both twins would both carry an extra 21st chromosome.  Read More ›
