Fall Activity Guide 2021

Fall Festivals

Derthick’s Corn Maze
Derthicks Farm is an 8th generation family owned and operated farm. It features four corn mazes of varying difficulty, a pumpkin picking patch, wagon rides, ziplines, slides, swings, and so many other exciting activities. Find more information here!

Old West Pumpkin Fest at Rockin’-R-Ranch
This is more than just the ordinary pumpkin patch…don’t miss out on this experience at Old West Pumpkin Fest at Rockin’-R-Ranch! They have pony rides, a family fun house, animal petting farm, face painting, pumpkin painting, and so much more. Learn more about Old West Pumpkin Fest here.

Arrowhead Orchard
Founded in 1932, Arrowhead Orchard is the perfect place to pick delicious fall apples with the whole family! They also have a small pumpkin patch, corn maze, and various kids’ activities including an apple canon. Discover Arrowhead Orchard here!

The Great Pumpkin Festival at Mapleside Farms
Enjoy the latest edition of their live stage play, The Princess & The Pumpkin, performed by the talented ensemble known as the Pumpkin Players. Plus, get lost in the 7-acre Corn Maze, take a tour of the orchard in their Cow and Pig Trains, enjoy the newly upgraded scenic hayride, rocket down the longest slide in America when you ride the 311 foot Super Slide, fly high on two giant Jump Pillows, watch the Pig Races, and much more! Halloween Events

Akron Zoo Boo at the Zoo
Dress your little ghosts and goblins in their costumes for everyone’s favorite non-scary Halloween event, Boo at the Zoo, presented by Acme Fresh Market. Bring your own bag or bucket to collect treats from 12 themed treat stations located throughout the zoo. Learn more here.

Halloween Express Train Ride
The Northeast Ohio Railroad Preservation hosts at non-scary Halloween Express Train Ride after dark! Dress up in your favorite costume and enjoy the ride. Details here.

FREE Canton First Friday: Witches & Wizards
Dress in your favorite witch or wizard costume, grab your wand, and head down to the Canton Arts District for a night of fun! Learn more.

Tricks & Treats Fall Fest at Cedar Point
Everyone in the family will have a spook-tacular time with amazing food, trick-or-treating, activities, entertainment, seasonal merchandise, and so much more. Costumes encouraged! All the details here.

Cuyahoga Falls Halloween Extravaganza
Festivities include the Front Street Trick-or-Treat, a Costume Contest with trophies awarded, an outdoor family dance on the plaza, and an outdoor Movie featuring Hocus Pocus. Discover more on their Facebook page.

Nature Based Fall Activities

Summit Metro Parks Fall Hiking Spree
This year, the Fall Hiking Spree celebrates 100 years of Summit Metro Parks. In our centennial anniversary year, participants are invited to enjoy both the Fall Hiking Spree and Centennial Tour at the same time! More details here.

Holden Arboretum Canopy Walk & Tower
Enjoy the beautiful fall foliage with amazing views! The arboretum covers 3,600 acres and features more than 20 miles of trails, a Canopy Walk (an elevated walkway 65 feet above the forest floor), the Emergent Tower (a 120-foot tower where on a clear day you can see all the way to Lake Erie), and a natural play area for kids. It’s a great destination for families and people of all ages. Plus, it’s also dog-friendly, so you can bring your pup along to enjoy the fun. Details here.

Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens Fall Events

Spooky Science at Beech Creek Botanical Gardens
What a perfect time of year to celebrate and educate about the natural world. Come discover the magical secrets it hides right beneath our noses! Spooky Science is about teaching people in a fun and creative environment about all the things in nature that can “spook or creep” you out, like spiders, snakes, and bats. Fall Foliage Driving Tours in Northeast Ohio
While the trees are still mostly green, we are starting to see some changes in color. As the month of October progresses, we will experience the beautiful fall colors that Ohio is known for. Follow the weekly fall color updates by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) to stay up to date on when the colors are expected to reach peak conditions. Miscellaneous Activities
