Summit DD’s Appreciation Breakfast and Awards Celebration brought together more than 300 social service agencies, disability providers, local elected officials, community members and families to celebrate the impact of three award winners! This celebration was the perfect way to close out a month long celebration of DD Awareness.

Rosemene Warner, Carlene Weaver Achievement Award
This award honors an individual with developmental disabilities who through live experience, actions or self-advocacy helps change perceptions or bring about positive awareness for those with developmental disabilities in Summit County. Recently, Rosemene advocated to become her own legal guardian, which led to her reaching many exciting life goals like living independently, working in the Giant Eagle bakery, competing in the Special Olympics, and more. Watch her story and join us in celebrating her achievements.
Wednesday’s Child, Russ Pry Community Impact Award
This award honors a person (or group) that is making an impact in the Summit County community for people with developmental disabilities through innovative programs, volunteerism, advocacy, or awareness efforts. In the past year alone, Wednesday’s Child has fulfilled over 1,000 gifts and baskets for people served by Summit DD, on top of holiday deliveries and large-scale community events like Carnival, Prom, and Friendsgiving! And their reach continues to expand!
Louisa Ridge, Dottie Schrum Culture Award
This award recognizes an outstanding Direct Support Professional from any organization in the developmental disabilities field, whose efforts or service has gone above and beyond to make a difference for those with developmental disabilities in Summit County. Through innovation, collaboration, and a commitment to person-centered care, Louisa Ridge has become the first local provider in the county capable of delivering and fully supporting remote support services – expanding options for those we serve while maintaining safety, quality, and connection.
