How does the County’s upcoming home valuations affect Summit DD’s levy? Your questions answered.

Summit DD received a lot of questions from the community about how the revaluation letters they received will be impacted by Issue 17, Summit DD’s replacement levy. The short answer is that it doesn’t. Issue 17 will be based on current values, not the new values that residents received letters about. Also, that value is locked in for the length of the levy cycle which is from 2025 – 2030. The amount you pay will not increase during that time.  Read More ›

News from the Community: Former Tallmadge Campus Update

On May 13, 2022, Summit DD officially moved into its new administrative building in Cuyahoga Falls. This completed a two-year plan that moved the organization’s operations from Tallmadge to its existing buildings in Barberton and Cuyahoga Falls. The move came after careful planning and assessments that helped make Summit DD’s offices more accessible to all residents within Summit County.

There has been a lot of activity at this former property over the past year. We’re happy to report that this campus that has helped so many of our fellow community members and families throughout the past 50 years, continues to support our Summit County communities, just new ways. Here’s the latest about how the former campus continues to evolve. Read More ›

Summit DD’s Levy: Where does the money go?

Summit DD’s operating levy makes up more than 80% of the Agency’s revenue. That levy is set to expire on December 31, 2024. Summit DD will be putting forth a replacement levy, Issue 17, on the November 7, 2023 ballot. This replacement levy will fund services and supports from 2025–2030 and will cost homeowners $158 a year per $100,000 of appraised value.

Summit DD has not experienced an increase in revenue since 2007, and in that time has increased the number of children and adults served by 30%! A replacement levy will cost homeowners $3.58 more per month per $100,000 appraised value. This funding will allow Summit DD to support children and adults currently receiving services, along with the expected growth over the next six years. It’s important to note that the November 7 election will lock in home values at CURRENT rates, not the increased values that Summit County residents recently received letters about that go into effect in 2024.
