Summit DD Gives Back to our Community

Meaningful service. Real impact. A remarkable year of giving back.

During the 2025 Summit DD Gives Back program, nearly 140 Summit DD team members volunteered throughout Summit County, contributing a combined 725 hours of service. Wow! Our team made a real difference across the community this year, and some highlights include:

  • Supporting families: Prepared over 100 spring snack bags for children aged 12–18 and created spring-themed cards for families using the visitation center at Summit County Children Services.
  • Promoting early literacy: Visited all 12 Head Start preschool classrooms in Summit County to read books and engage children in hands-on activities.
  • Strengthening healthcare access: Sorted and organized medical supplies at ASIA, Inc.’s International Community Health Center, supporting culturally and linguistically appropriate healthcare for all.
  • Beautifying our downtown: Cleaned trash and debris, prepped 18 planters, and weeded flower beds at High Glens Park to help the City of Cuyahoga Falls and Downtown Cuyahoga Falls Partnership annual flower planting.
  • Fighting food insecurity: Processed 2,892 meals at the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank and distributed food to thousands of Summit County residents at the pantry during the SNAP disruption.
  • Bringing joy to children: Assembled care packages filled with toys, games, and coloring supplies for children receiving inpatient care at Akron Children’s Hospital.
  • Supporting community events: Unloaded and arranged nearly 3,000 mums to help Barberton Parks and Recreation prepare for the annual Barberton Mum Festival.
  • Equipping students: Sorted and packed over 20,000 school supplies with the United Way of Summit and Medina Counties, supporting 36 Akron Public School teachers and more than 630 students.
  • Spreading holiday cheer: Helped the Salvation Army sort and pack holiday items for nearly 650 families and over 1,600 children in Summit County.

What a year! To all Summit DD team members who volunteered their time in 2025, thank you for lending a helping hand throughout our community. Your dedication and compassion truly make a difference. You are the heart of Summit DD!
