Key Responsibilities of a Volunteer Board:

  • Governance and Oversight: Responsible for establishing the organization’s mission, vision, and strategic goals, as well as ensuring compliance with legal and ethical standards.
  • Financial Management: Oversee the organization’s finances, including budgeting, fundraising, and financial reporting.
  • Strategic Planning: Develop and implement long-term plans to guide the organization’s future.
  • Advocacy: Act as advocates for the organization, promoting its mission and work to the wider community.
  • Community Engagement: Build relationships with stakeholders and ensure the organization is accountable to its community.

Summit DD Social Media Terms of Service (2025) 

We strive to share positive, empowering and informative content on our social media channels. We welcome comments, shares and engagement from our friends, followers and community. We understand that there may be times when opinions or beliefs differ within our online community, and these differences shall be respected.  However, while we respect differing thoughts and opinions, we will not tolerate discrimination, threats or abuse.  

Comments made by the public on Summit DD’s social media pages do not necessarily reflect the views of the organization. Summit DD is not responsible for public user-generated content.

By using or otherwise accessing social media pages registered to and maintained by the Summit County Developmental Disabilities Board (Summit DD), you are accepting the practices described in our Terms of Service (TOS) below. Summit DD neither controls nor holds any responsibility over the privacy practices or TOS of social media platforms on which it operates its pages.  As such, Summit DD’s TOS does not apply to platforms themselves.  

Below are Summit DD’s social media terms of service and expectations: 

Be Respectful and Polite 

  1. Treat all individuals with respect, kindness, and courtesy, regardless of their opinions.  
  2. Avoid using offensive language, personal attacks, or engaging in arguments. 
  3. Discrimination, of any kind, will not be tolerated. 
  4. Threats or harassment will not be tolerated and will be reported to authorities, as if necessary. 

Maintain Confidentiality and Privacy 

  1. Do not share confidential, proprietary, or sensitive information about the organization, people served, employees, or partners. 
  2. Respect others’ privacy and do not post personal details or images without permission. 

Be Accurate and Honest 

  1. Ensure the information you share is accurate, truthful, and up-to-date. 
  2. Avoid spreading rumors, misinformation, or unverified claims. 

Engage Constructively 

  1. We encourage open and respectfully constructive dialogue, even when disagreeing. 
  2. Focus on positive contributions rather than criticism. 

Follow Legal and Ethical Standards 

  1. Users may not engage in illegal activities, harassment, or discrimination. 

 

Summit DD reserves the right to remove content that violates these guidelines. Users who repeatedly violate the policy may be restricted from engaging with our pages: 

  • Obscene, violent or sexual content, imagery, or videos. 
  • Defamation or personal attacks (against staff or other individuals). 
  • Fraud of any kind. 
  • Incitement. 
  • Discrimination or discriminatory language (including, but not limited to: ethnicity, race, disability, sex, age, identity, or religion). 
  • Threats , abusive language or harassment toward employees or other social media users. 
  • Commercial solicitation, spam or advertising. 
  • Repetitive or duplicative posts. 
  • Violations of the law (including copyright violations). 
  • Comments promoting political candidates, political parties, campaigns, or lobbying efforts will be removed to maintain neutrality.
