The 2013 Ohio Law Enforcement Torch Run Presented by The Kroger Company will take place June 23 – 28th across Ohio. The officers will carry the “Flame of Hope” through over 150 communities, creating awareness of Special Olympics and raising funds for the program. The Torch Run culminates in the Final Leg coming into Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium to pass the “Flame of Hope” to the Special Olympics athletes and signifies the official start to the Summer Games.

Summit DD funds and coordinates day services for more than 1,800 adults, including community-based employment and center based services. More than 1,500 of those adults in Summit County receive their day service in a center-based setting. National trends indicate that the most integrated environment is integrated community employment where individuals make at least minimum wage and work along side those without disabilities, Ohio has followed suit with the Governor’s proclamation declaring Ohio and Employment First state in 2012.
